Review:

Peggy and I have been enjoying a fairly new mystery series called The Liebermann Papers, by Frank TallisLiebermann is a young physician in fin-de-siecle Vienna who has fallen under the influence of the upstart Sigmund Freud, who appears regularly in the booksHis friend and musical partner Detective Reinhardt sometimes asks him to assist in a homicide case, so Tallis has created a forensic profiler working within a European ambienceThe characters, including Freud, are engaging and plausible; the plots are entertaining, and the atmosphere fascinating with historical detailAnd, as Tallis is himself a working clinical psychologist in London, the reader is likely to learn something about his specialtyThe first three titles are A Death in Vienna, Vienna Blood, and Fatal Lies; a fourth installment is in processAll are published by Random House in paperback.
