Sandra Shackelford spent a decade working for civil and human rights in the Mississippi Delta town of Greenwood during the 1950's and sixties. She is a professional writer, documentary artist, instructor and oral historian. As Writing Circle facilitator, she encourages the creative process in people who come together drawing each out as they begin or continue to tell the stories of their lives.
A former journalist and accomplished professional artist, Sandra has taught at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Saint Norbert College and Aldo Leopold Community School, and as a writing specialist at the College of Menominee Nation. She is currently working on her memoir.
Past Circle writers are high in their praise of Sandra's Writing Circles:

-Your enthusiasm is contagious and encouraging.
-I thought the workshop format worked well. I enjoyed the time spent discussing and writing. I thought the environment was nurturing to both those who were seasoned and novices alike.
-Really tapped a need in the community.
